Transitional Housing Program (THP)

CVI serves homeless Veterans and Veterans at risk of becoming homeless.

On any given night, CVI houses, feeds, and provides reintegration services to more than 300 veterans. Success is achieved when a veteran has a source of income, physical, mental, and spiritual health, as well as a place to call their own.

Without a safe environment with supportive housing and services, many veterans could not break the cycle of homelessness and move on to jobs and permanent housing.

The Bureau of Transitional Housing Programs and Services offers transitional housing for homeless male and female veterans with wrap-around supportive services designed to assist veterans reintegrating into the community.

Transition in Place

The Transition in Place (TIP) Program is a time-limited transitional housing assistance where the Veteran takes over the lease as their permanent housing (scattered sites) within 6-12 months.

TIP is a housing model that serves AODA free homeless Veterans and homeless Veterans with children. Veteran (and their families) participants can move into one or two-bedroom units that CVI will lease and eventually transition leases to the Veteran participants.

The TIP model focuses on wraparound services to include supportive services and income attainment. Veteran participants will be required to pay a monthly program fee, which is around 30% of their household income.

TIP Eligibility

To be eligible for the Transition In Place (TIP) Program, Veterans must be homeless at the time of applying. They may be present at Vets Place Central for evaluation.
