Job Purpose
The overall purpose of the Grant & per Diem Driver is to support all the transportation needs of the Grant & per Diem program. This includes transportation of both goods and individuals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Transport members (Veterans) to and from Veterans Administration appointments
- Transport all meals from VETS Place Central to Boudicca House daily
- Time management skills to ensure duties are completed in a safe and efficient manner
- Courteously interacts with veterans, staff, both internal and external
- Courteously interacts with customers, both internal and external, ensuring customers are serviced in a professional and timely manner.
- Pick up donations from donors as needed
- Deliver drug and alcohol tests to the VA lab
- Maintain a separate log of all trips for each vehicle
- Detailed inspection of transportation vehicles on a weekly basis
- Daily inspection of each vehicle each morning prior to first trip of the day
- Maintain separate vehicle inspection logs for each vehicle
- Take vehicles for routine service and maintenance
- Maintain vehicles, i.e. getting gas and keeping vehicles clean and free of clutter
- Other duties as requested or assigned

- Ability to drive 15-person passenger vans
- Ability to write simple reports
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations
- Ability to communicate effectively in all modes of communication

Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record being able to be added to the CVI approved driver list with the insurance company
- Pass a background check as it pertains to the position
Working Conditions
Generally, the work of this position will be performed in a motorized vehicle with adequate temperature controls. The working environment is generally favorable. Typical hazards include those hazards normally encountered when driving vehicles on the open road. Nearly all travel will be local.
Physical Requirements
Work is generally sedentary in nature and will require standing and walking for up to 30% of the time. There will occasionally be bending, lifting and carrying of up to 25-30 pounds.
