A Letter from the President

Mr. Eduardo M. Garza, Jr.

Welcome Family and Friends,

First of all, let me say it is truly an honor and privilege to serve as the President and CEO of the Center for Veterans Issues (CVI). Inspired by the life and the legacy of our past two Presidents and CEOs, BG (ret.) Robert A. Cocroft and Mr. Thomas H. Wynn, Sr., I am determined to continue the mission of CVI to serve the men and women of our armed forces and their families when they find themselves in need upon returning to civilian life.  We will continue to build upon the foundation left by my predecessors to ensure that CVI continues to be the largest community-based veteran services organization in the state of Wisconsin.

Although known best for serving homeless veterans, CVI’s mission does not stop there. Multiple wars and multiple deployments of our service men and women has resulted in an array of difficulties derailing their ability to transition back into civilian life. Our broad spectrum of resources, programs, and services include housing, education, employment and training, supportive services, case management, and other wraparound services and community collaborations.  CVI will continue to address the needs of our veterans, their families and the communities they live in.

The call to assist our veterans when they are in need is not just a priority for us, but should be for our entire nation, as someone once said “Giving begins at home”. CVI is grateful for the many partners, sponsors, organizations, and friends that work with us diligently every day to make a difference in the lives of our veterans and their families and now that they have served us, we proudly continue to serve them.

Won’t you join us?

In Service,

Eduardo M. Garza, Jr.  “LT”

President and CEO

Our Mission

The Center for Veterans Issues, Inc. provides housing and supportive services to help improve the quality of life for ALL Veterans, their families, and the communities in which they live and serve.

Our Vision

The Center for Veterans Issues strives to be the premier Veteran Resource Organization that helps end homelessness across Wisconsin and the United States.

History of CVI

The Center for Veterans Issues, Inc. was born out of longstanding frustration with a range of negative factors confronting veterans returning from the Vietnam War. After many years of trying to work through a number of efforts and institutions, the Center was founded as a way of providing a consistent, professional, effective, and replicable means of moving beyond the advocacy and addressing problems harming low-income veterans and their families.

Core Customer Base & Impact

At the core of all Center for Veterans Issues service delivery is the veteran in need. Providing holistic services, either directly or through collaboration, certainly will improve the quality of life for veterans in need.

However, the impact of that improvement in the quality of the veteran’s life does not end there. The Center for Veterans Issues believes that improved quality of life for the veteran leads to improved quality of life for their families. This, in turn, leads to stronger communities and states as well as the nation as a whole.
